Activities Cycling and sightseeing Difficulty level: on average, demanding. A reasonable level of training is required. The most demanding parts are: Day 2: climbing to Mount Erice; Day 5: some steep ascents in the second part of the leg; Day 6: a hard slope before getting to the farmhouse

Accommodation: Bed & breakfast, guest houses, (3-star) hotels, farmhouses (B&B service and/or half board). Traditional Sicilian meals and drinks

Tour highlights: Archaeological sites: Segesta, Mozia, Cave di Cusa and Selinunte. Nature reserves: Zingaro (at Scopello) and Mouth of Belice River (at Selinunte) Salt Marshes Reserve and wind mills between Trapani and Marsala Visit to a traditional wine-making firm with tasting at Marsala. Day 1 Palermo- Scopello. No biking activity
Arrival to Palermo Airport and transfer to Scopello. Overnight stay: At Scopello

Day 2 Scopello - Erice. Biking activity
The Archaeological site of Segesta. After visiting Segesta, you’ll cycle to Erice. Overnight: Erice
Level of difficulty: On average, moderate. Demanding when climbing Mount Erice

Day 3 Erice Marsala. Biking activity
You’ll be pedalling at your ease. Scenic descent from Erice leading you to the Salt Marshes Nature Reserve and to Mozia, (Mozia, in Italian), a small fascinating islet and once a Punic settlement, and then to Marsala. Wine tasting. Overnight: Marsala

Day 4 Marsala - Selinunte. Biking activity
Cycling to two archaeological sites: the quarries of Cave di Cusa and Selinunte, the ancient Selinus. Cycling to another Nature Reserve around the mouth of the Belice River and the nearby dunes. Overnight: Selinunte

Level of difficulty: On average, moderate.

Day 5 Selinunte - Contessa Entellina. Biking activity
Cycling to the Ruins of Poggioreale. Keep on cycling to Contessa Entellina. Spend the night in a cosy accommodation run by friendly people in the countryside around Contessa Entellina and the archaeological site of Entella.

Level of difficulty: On average, moderate; demanding for the last 1.5 km to the accommodation.

Day 6 Contessa Entellina - Piana degli Albanesi. Biking activity
Cycling day in the inner western Sicily! Corleone and Piana degli Albanesi. Overnight: At Piana degli Albanesi
Level of difficulty: On average, moderate; demanding for a 4.5-km-long slope in the second part of the leg.

Day 7 Piana degli Albanesi - Monreale. Biking activity
Cycling to Monreale along the track of a dismissed railway.
Overnight stay: Monreale
Level of difficulty: On average, demanding.

Day 8 Departure. No biking activity
