Day 1. Arrival – Catania – Slopes of Mount Etna

Arrival at Catania airport and welcome by our driver. Transfer to the farmhouse on the slopes of Mt. Etna. A welcome drink and meeting with our facilitator guide for an introduction to the philosophy of Relational Tours by “in the Soul of Sicily”. Welcome Dinner to “meet” the unique flavors of Sicily. Overnight at the hotel (dinner included).

 

Day 2- Between Sky And Fire – Etna By Jeep – Winery – Farm House

Breakfast at the hotel. “Special morning on Mt. Etna” one of our unique excursions in a private jeep to the top of the highest active volcano in Europe. The varied landscape of Mt. Etna ranges from the severe, snow‐capped mountain top to the lunar deserts of barren black lava, beech woods and lush vineyards in the area where highly rated DOC wine is produced. Transfer to a cellar in the foothills of Mt. Etna serving an authentic regional cuisine. Special lunch at the winery. Back to our hotel for an afternoon of pure peace, relax and romance at the spa centre. A place where you clear your mind and treat yourself after the long excursion day. Dinner on your own and overnight (breakfast and lunch included).

Day 3- The Power Of Nature And The “Dolce Vita” Atmosphere: Alcantara Gorges And Taormina

Breakfast at the hotel. Another unique and amazing experience is the Alcantara Gorge, an example of “the power of nature”. We will walk in the water, using wading boots that are a useful protection against the icy water and spiky rocks. Lunch on your own. Back to the hotel. Transfer to Taormina. Walk through the historical centre of this beautiful town, famous for its Greek‐ Roman amphitheatre and its enchanting view of the Ionic Sea and Mt. Etna.

Taormina is a must place to see for those who want to discover Sicily. Then a typical Sicilian Dinner with a friendly atmosphere and an authentic cuisine. Back to the hotel for overnight (breakfast and dinner included).

 

Day 4- Landscape Without Borders:  Vendicari Oasis – The Power And The Glory: Syracuse

Breakfast at the hotel. Check out. A natural paradise and unique eco‐system, a complex of coastal marshes and a serene sandy beach, which, depending on the season, provides a protected home for large populations of migratory birds. You are at the “Oasi Naturale di Vendicari”. An amazing place of this part of Sicily! Walking to a family‐owned “agriturismo”, where you’ll enjoy a lunch of regional specialties, including freshly made pasta. Departure to Syracuse, the most important city of Magna Grecia and today a UNESCO World Heritage site. The city is divided into “mainland” and the islet of Ortygia. Enjoy a visit of the isthmus where a mix of Medieval and Baroque provide a delightful blending in the narrow streets. Time at leisure for shopping. Check in at our Charming house. Day 5-  Colors And Flavours Of Southern Sicily: Noto And Modica

Breakfast at the hotel and check out. We will drive to the lovely town of Noto, the capital of Sicilian Baroque, famous for its “honey” colored buildings of the early eighteenth century. Lunch on your own. Afternoon trip to Modica, the ancient capital of Contea, a city full of fascinating architectural, artistic and scenic attractions, unique among those pertaining to the splendid Sicilian Baroque period. Modica is like an open air museum. But Modica also needs to be smelled when chocolatiers and cake shops bake local specialties. Enjoy the chocolates at a well‐known and celebrated chocolate factory, where the chocolate is still made in the traditional way, based on Aztec methods and old recipes. Check in at a beautiful charming historic dwelling in the historical centre. Dinner on your own (breakfast included).

 

Day 6- A Journey Through The History And The Soul Of Iblei Mountains: Scicli – Herbs Farm – Cave D’ispica

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure for Scicli, small town hidden in a valley overlooking the sea on the horizon, the late baroque pearl guarded by UNESCO in 2002. After the earthquake of 1693 the city was rebuilt in the area between the principal street and the church of San Bartolomeo, in which are situated the extraordinary late-Baroque buildings that make this city unique in the Val di Noto. And now a fantastic experience is reserved for you: an Olfactory Tour and Cooking Demo Lunch. In the afternoon, we reach the Cava d’Ispica, a long canyon where archaeology, history and nature unite.A nice walking of a couple of hours will conduct us to a nice place where you can have a good coffee with some pastries. Back to the hotel.

 

 

Day 7- A bridge between the visible and the invisible: Agrigento ‐ Menfi

Breakfast at the farmhouse. Check out. Journey to Agrigento or Akragas one of the largest Greek cities on the Mediterranean Sea. A wonderful walking tour through a magnificent collection of seven well preserved Doric places of worship from Greek antiquity. You are at the Valley of the Temples! By mid day we reach a special “Garden” an agricultural jewel returned to light after decades of abandon with fruit trees from every part of the world and some of the trees are over 1000 years old! Surrounded by pomegranate, pistachio, orange and lemon trees in the Mediterranean sun you will enjoy a typical Sicilian lunch. This is sure to be a highlight of your trip. Another hour transfer brings us to the countryside of Menfi for the next night at a vineyard‐side resort for a private VIP tour of the “Baglio” and “Barricaia”. Following the welcome aperitif, you proceed to a dinner of superlative cuisine (breakfast, lunch and dinner included).

 

Day 8- Flavors Of The Good Earth: Marsala – Wines – Olive Oil – Erice – Marzipan – Monte Cofano

Breakfast at the hotel. Check out. The coast from Marsala to Trapani is characterized by one of the landscapes most peculiar to Sicily: the Salt Pans. But Marsala is also a name of a very special wine, a meditation wine to be sipped slowly and enjoyed. Transfer to a “Baglio”. Surrounded by palm trees, olive trees and vineyards, and an Olive oil tasting, you can enjoy a pleasant lunch. On top of the mountain of the same name lies the beautiful town of Erice, where you’ll have the feeling of being inside a dream. A stop at the Antique Convent Pastry Shop, to taste its fine pastries, is a must. Guided walk down the narrow streets of the ancient town. A 45 minute ride will get us to the Riserva Naturale di Monte Cofano, for a special walk. Check in at our SPA hotel. Dinner on your own and overnight (breakfast and lunch incl.).

Day 9- Marvellous Wonders of the Arab-Norman World: Palermo and Monreale – Madonie

Morning: breakfast at the hotel . Check out. Departure to Palermo the regional capital of Sicily, one of those cities with its own tangible atmosphere, a place of mystery where reality often outperforms the traveller’s imagination and preconceived stereotypes. Here, visit and seek out signs of its ancient “grandeur”: the Palatine Chapel, Church of San Giovanni Degli Eremiti, the Cathedral, Quattro Canti square, etc. And naturally the town’s popular Vucciria market. Lunch on your own in town.

Afternoon: Continue the visit of Palermo and transfer to Monreale, the crown of the Conca d’Oro. The cathedral of Monreale, one of the wonders of the world. A special guide will explain the splendid 12th century mosaics and the cloister. Continue to Madonie’s Park (Petralia or other village). Check in at the farmhouse. Dinner and overnight (breakfast and dinner included).

 

Day 10- A Story 200 Million Years Long: The Madonie Park and its Jewels: Polizzi, Castelbuono, Cefalù

After breakfast we will leave the Farm and go up to the surrounding hills to see the lush natural reserve of the Madonie Mountains regional park. A botanical treasure trove, the park contains more than half of the 2,600 known plant species in Sicily. Transfer to Polizzi Generosa, a small village, surrounded by cheerful countryside and green pastures. The ancient village rich in historical and artistic attractions. During the walk through the town’s medieval streets, guests will have a break for a sampling of typical sweets and pastries. Special excursion to the “Valley of the Watermills”. The history of the mills goes back to the distant past. A special cooking class at the home of an authentic Sicilian family. Lunch with our new friends. Next stop is the medieval town of Castelbuono that boasts a castle built by the noble Ventimiglia family in the 14th century, with the museum and the private Chapel. A visit to Castelbuono would not be complete without tasting the famous Fiasconaro’s Panettone  (typical Italian sweet bread). Sound, music, memory and flavor: dinner among musical influences of the past and  storytelling. Transfer to Cefalù. Check in at the hotel and overnight (breakfast , lunch and dinner included).

Day 11- Cefalù Land of Myths – A Little Spot In Paradise

Buffet breakfast at the hotel. This morning we’ll start from the Rocca to do our particular Urban Trekking. A memorable and tasty outdoor picnic  and the most amazing views, accompanied by the music of a great Sicilian folk group, is reserved for you. Back to town for some hours of relax. A walk through the old town. The squares, streets and churches of this medieval town are so postcard pretty,  it is also the new entry under the Unesco Heritage. Enjoy an afternoon aboard our Fisherman boat for a Coast to Coast Cefalu’ tour.  We aim to provide a unique experience and take you away from the crowded tourist place. We will enjoy, at the end, a delicious dinner on a private beach, while the sun seemingly drops into the sea. Back to the hotel. Overnight (breakfast, lunch and dinner included).

 

Day 12- It’s Time To Say Goodbye To Colors of Sicily

And when we  look back at the memories of the trip with “In The soul of Sicily”, we will remember it as one of the most rewarding, wonderful experiences of our life.
