Saturday: Palermo
Arrival at Palermo airport. Transfer to the hotel (not included
but it can be booked on request). Welcome dinner at a local
restaurant.

day 2 - Sunday: Palermo, Monreale
Breakfast at the hotel. Morning walking tour of the old centre
of Palermo. Visit the popular Capo Market, Piazza
Teatro Massimo, the Palatine Chapel and Hall
of King Roger II, the Four Corners and the Pretoria
Square with its astonishing fountain. In the afternoon,
visit to Monreale where we will admire the Norman
Duomo (Cathedral) decorated on the inside with over 6,340
sq. meters (almost 70,000 sq. feet) of mosaics and 24-carat
gold!
Dinner on your own.

Monday: Cefalù- Piazza Armerina
After breakfast, departure to the charming coastal town of
Cefalù,with its stunning Norman Cathedral
rich of Byzantine mosaics. Walking tour and, then, drive through
the interior parts of Sicily to Piazza Armerina. Time
at leisure for independent lunch. Then visit the Roman Villa
(3rd, 4rth century A.D.) at Casale with its 3.500 square metres
of mosaic flooring giving an insight into the Roman way of
living. Drive on to Taormina. Dinner at hotel.

Tuesday: Catania - Siracusa
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to Catania, at the
foot of Mt Etna, the second largest city on the island with
its imposing baroque buildings and for its streets built with
black lava stone. Visit of the old city centre Piazza Duomo
with the fountain of the "Liotru" elephant statue.
Then, we continue to Siracusa, once the most powerful
Greek colony in Sicily. Upon arrival, walk in the old picturesque
centre of the town, Orthygia, and lunch in a local restaurant.
In the afternoon visit of the archaeological area with its
marvellous Greek theatre, Ear of Dionisios, Roman amphitheatre
and Latomie (stone-quarries). Overnight
in Taormina

Wednesday: Taormina
Day at leisure for rest, shopping or independent visit of
the the Greek- Roman Theatre with unique views over
the sea to Calabria and inland to Mount Etna. Optional day-trips.

Thursday: Caltagirone - Agrigento
After breakfast, we will drive through inner Sicily to Caltagirone,
renowned for its ceramic ware and its impressive flight of
142 steps known as Scala S.Maria del Monte and all
decorated with local and coloured maiolica tiles. Time at
leisure for shopping. Then, we will drive to Agrigento, a
Unesco World Heritage Site, with its imposing range of Greek
Doric temples. After dinner at the hotel, enjoy an orientation
tour of Agrigento by night to admire the Temples lit up.

Friday: Selinunte - Saltpans - Erice
Today we will drive to Selinunte, in the southwest
coast of Sicily, for a visit of the ruins of the abandoned
ancient Greek city. See the temples on the Eastern hill
and the Acropolis. Then we will enter the Trapani province
driving along saltpans and Sicilian windmills. Light lunch
in an agriturismo to taste antipasti, local olive oil,
bruschette, pizza and local cheese. In the afternoon, we will
visit the mediaeval hill town of Erice. Upon arrival,
we will walk to the Castle built on the ruins of the temple
of Venus. Stop at a local pastry-shop to taste the typical
marzipans and almond pastries. In the evening we will get
to Palermo. Yoiu will enjoy a farewell dinner in a typical
trattoria-restaurant.
