Saturday:
Palermo Arrival at Palermo airport. Transfer to the hotel (not included
but it can be booked on request). Welcome dinner at a local restaurant.

Palermo, Monreale
Breakfast at the hotel. Our first stop will be Monreale to admire the Norman
Duomo (Cathedral) decorated on the inside with over 6,340 sq. meters (almost
70,000 sq. feet) of mosaics and 24-carat gold!. The, we continue to the old ciity centre of Palermo. Here we visit the Palatine Chapel and Hall of King Roger II, the Pretoria Square with its astonishing fountain, Via Maqueda with its
Four Corners.
In the afternoon, departure to the charming
coastal town of Cefalù,with its stunning Norman Cathedral rich of Byzantine mosaics. Walk in the city centre.
Return to Palermo.

Monday:
Marsala wine, olive oil, Erice
Today we tour Western Sicily. After breakfast we will drive to Marsala. The
town is the most famous wine producer on the entire island. Upon arrival, we transfer
to a local winery and visit the cellars. Then, drive along saltpans and Sicilian windmills to an olive oil fam where we will enjoy a light lunch. In the afeternoon, we visit the mediaeval
hill town of Erice. Upon arrival, we will walk to the Castle built on the
ruins of the temple of Venus. Stop at a local pastry-shop to taste the typical
marzipans and almond pastries. In the evening we will get back to Palermo.

Tuesday:
Agrigento - Piazza Armerina
After breakfast, we will drive through inner
Sicily to Agrigento where we visit the Valley of the Temples, a Unesco World
Heritage Site, with its imposing range of Greek Doric temples. Then, we continue to Piazza Armerina and enjoy lunch at a local country restaurant. After lunch, we visit of the Roman Villa (3rd, 4rth century
A.D.) at Casale with its 3.500 square metres of mosaic flooring giving an insight
into the Roman way of living. Then, we will drive to Taormina, Dinner at a local restaurant Overnight in Taormina

Wednesday:
Siracusa
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to Siracusa, once the most powerful Greek colony in Sicily. Upon arrival, walk in the old picturesque centre of the town, Orthygia, and lunch in a local restaurant. In the afternoon visit of the archaeological area with its marvellous Greek theatre, Ear of Dionisios, Roman amphitheatre and Latomie (stone-quarries). Overnight in Taormina
(Breakfast and lunch included) up.
Thursday:
Taormina Day at leisure for rest, shopping or independent visit of the
the Greek- Roman Theatre with unique views over the sea to Calabria and
inland to Mount Etna. Optional day-trips. (Breakfast included)
Friday: Departure from Catania airport
Departure
from Sicily. Transfer to the airport not included but available on request.
